From Booklist
Like many TV courtroom dramas "ripped from today's headlines," Fahy's novel about a man driven to desperation compellingly takes as its jumping-off point reality--in this case, America's seriously, some say disastrously, flawed health care delivery system. The catalyst for the plot is the dreaded discovery of a lump by self-employed Michael's wife, Sharon. It sets in motion quite a chain of events, all within a heartless system. Driven to the brink of sanity when Sharon is denied the expensive treatment she needs, Michael impulsively kidnaps the doctor's daughter, Claire, and hides the child with Ruth, his sister. What follows his subsequent demanding call to the doctor may strain some readers' credulity. Others may find it all too believable. From Library Journal
Told in the first person, this rather weird but amusing tale by the author of Eternal Bliss (Zebra, 1988) and other fantasy novels tells the story of how Fred Fudpucker, once a moderately successful university grantsperson, becomes involved with the McDiddle hamburger chain--a corporate entity that grows so powerful it effectively runs the entire country. Fred eventually assists in McDiddleland's collapse, bringing economic ruin to most of the country but also allowing a small, rebellious region called Harmonia to flourish unimpeded. Although the first chapters of this fantasy/social commentary are a bit difficult to follow (Fred's introductory musings seem paranoid and delusional at best), eventually all is made clear, and the writing never fails to entertain.- A.M.B. Book Description
At once low-key and bizarre, these stories mingle satire and sympathy; their dialogue is not always what it seems on the printed page; their setting are simultaneously fantastic and all too actual. Their shock goes beyond recognition to linger in the consciousness of their readers.

As organizations struggle to create and sustain shareholder value, executives are continually challenged to deliver effective business processes.
